Annual Security & Fire Safety Report

Welcome to GWPD

With over 100 sworn officers, the George Washington University Police Department (GWPD) protects the community twenty four hours a day, every day of the year. In addition to providing patrol services to the Foggy Bottom and Mount Vernon campuses, GWPD provides crime prevention education to the community, oversees security at GW’s Virginia Science and Technology Campus, and coordinates safety and security for a variety of special events that effect campus security throughout the year. These include visits by dignitaries, commencement, and citywide celebrations.
