Access to the Facility

The Hall of the States Building is located two blocks from the Capitol Building, across the street from Union Station on the metro Red Line. GW rents three or four conference rooms Monday-Thursday on the second floor of the building and holds class in the early evening, generally from 6:00pm to 8:00pm. Meter parking is usually available. Building garage parking is also available, for an hourly fee. The Union Station metro is a two block walk.

The Hall of the States Building has a guard posted at the entrance to the building 24 hours/day. Generally, no one is allowed into the building after 7:00 pm without a passkey. However, GW students who arrive after 7:00pm must be identified by the guard on duty through a class list of students provided by the University. All students must be issued a temporary identification card (valid for same day only) each time they attend class. In addition, contract security guards hired by the Hall of  the States building management are posted at strategic locations throughout the building, 24 hours/day. Watkins Security Company is responsible for the security of the building.
